SharePoint and OneDrive Secrets: Handy URL Endings

28 March 2025 By Hal Sclater

If you’re working with SharePoint or OneDrive, you might already know how powerful they are for collaboration and document management. But did you know that appending specific URL endings to your site URLs can grant you direct access to hidden gems? Here’s a list of some useful URL endings that you can use to navigate SharePoint and OneDrive like a pro. Some are pretty well hidden like the preservation hold library.

These can be appended to a site URL after e.g. sites/sitename, or the full OneDrive URL ending e.g. /personal/[username]_[domain]_[TLD]/Documents.

1. Recycle Bin

Want to recover deleted items? Add this URL ending to your site:

/_layouts/15/RecycleBin.aspx?view=5

2. Preservation Hold Library

For compliance and eDiscovery, access items retained by policies:

/PreservationHoldLibrary/Forms/AllItems.aspx

3. Site Contents

To view and manage lists and libraries in a site:

/_layouts/15/viewlsts.aspx

4. Site Settings

To manage settings and permissions for your site:

/_layouts/15/settings.aspx

5. Permissions

View or update user permissions for the site:

/_layouts/15/user.aspx

6. Site Usage

Check site usage analytics:

/_layouts/15/siteanalytics.aspx

7. Site ID

/_api/site/id

These URL endings are like shortcuts to essential features of SharePoint and OneDrive, saving you time and effort.
